In Japan, dolls have many a long tradition and are still made today, for household shrines, for formal gift-giving, or for festival celebrations such as Hinamatsuri, the doll festival, or Kodomo no Hi, Children's Day. It was believe in old traditions that dolls can protect a girl from a bad thing, and it's believed too by Japanese bride.
For me, Japanese dolls have mono no aware, which it means that it's not only about a doll but there a aesthetic value and beauty that can't be described directly. In the book of Japanese Dolls: The Fascinating World of Ningyo said that ningyou haved played a far more important role in Japanese culture than one might initially imagined. Wonderful, isn't it.
Nowadays, Japanese dolls have so many shape and design. And because of the creativity, there a Japanese dolls that's made from paper and we called it washi ningyou. I think you have known about washi ningyou, aren't you? Well, washi ningyou is a popular Japanese paper dolls that have a beautiful shape and design. Like this one:

There are so much design for washi ningyou 3D and you can make it as you want. When i tried to made it in bunka taiken class, i feel so nervous and happy. I made it patiently and finally i could. Yeah. As i remember, what you need for make washi ningyou 3D is:

Washi Ningyou 3D
Washi ningyou 3D is made from a simple tools. The head of dolls is made from white cork balls and the body is made from thick cartoon that easy to be fold into a cylinder shape. there's a measurement fo kimono design.

- 1 White cork ball
- Washi paper
- Kimono design for front and back side
- Thick carton that have a cylinder shape
- Glue, i used UHU
- 1 Cotton bud for taking the glue
- Black crepe paper for the hair
- and a tissue bundle that we will put into cylinder carton so the dolls wont be falling.
I want to make washi ningyou again, -.- but i still have a pile of homework that i must finish.
