Today we will talk about Japanese culture that famous around the world that is manga.





Manga/ 漫画 are Japanese comic that created in Japan with Japanese language and it developed in the late 19th century in Japan. The first manga came from Buddhist priest, he described the irregularity of world with symbol of frog, dog and another creatures.

In Edo period, fukidashi was born. Fukidashi is a balloon dialogues that able to change shapes following the amount of dialogues.






 The genres of manga, also various, such as : action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, suspense, detective, horror, sexuality, and business/commerce or others. Since the 1950s, manga has steadily become a major part of the Japanese publishing industry.
Mangaka/ manga artist, usually work in studio together with  with a few assistants  and a associated creative editor from a commercial publishing company. Usually, when the mangaka is chased with deadline, the editor will work hard to make the mangaka able to finish their work on time. For the first debut, mangaka publish their manga in the manga magazines but mangaka can be said " successfull" if they can make tankoubon/ print book manga.

The way of reading manga is from right to left but sometimes in another country, the reading style of manga is change to adapt their culture so it will be right left to right. Here the reading direction of manga, usually its a Japanese style reading, right to left.


 Also in manga, there are some name that relate to manga such as:
  1. Doujinshi: It's a manga that made by amateur or fan  manga and it can be yaoi, shonen and seinen
  2. Gekiga: Adult manga that explores a serius topic
  3. Hentai: A manga which most of them explicit sexuality
  4. Josei/ Redisu ( レディス),  Redi Komi  ( レディ コミ), Rediisu Komikku ( レディイスコミック): Its a ladies comics which most of the readers are woman/ adult woman and usually the manga story is about adult women issues as wives and office workers.
  5. Kodomo: It's a comic for children include pronuncation guide for children as learning to read.
  6. Mecha: Its a  mechanical comic that usually tell about robots and transformers
  7. Shonen- Ai: Its about boys love that usually male love stories
  8. Yaoi: Its an acronym for Yamanashi, ochinashi, iminashi/ no climax point, no meaning. Usually its about male homosexual stories that written for woman. The fans of Yaoi usually called fujoshi for women fans and fudanshi for men fans. 
  9. Shoujo: Girl and young women love stories.The first pioner of shoujo manga is sazae san by Machiko Hasegawa.
  10. Yuri: Girl love stories that almost same with shoujo-ai but Yuri usually more explicit than shoujo Ai.
  11. Shoujo- Ai: Girl love stories that usually girl lovers stories.
  12.  Shonen: Its a manga for male readers that usually the manga readers between boys up 18 years old.
  13. Seinen : Male manga but have a two types that are for young men 18 to 30 years old with the story usually about male heroines, slapstick humor and expicit sexuality, almost same like hentai. Kanji for seinen also divided for young men readers / 青年 and for adult majority readers is 成年.
 There are some famous publisher manga in Japan such as Shogakukan, Hakusensha, Kodansha, Shonen Jump, etc. And same for famous manga magazines such as Kiss, Shonen Jump, Nakayoshi, Lala, Shoujo comics, Weekly Shonen Magazines, etc.


Last Tuesday, i just learned about how to write manga and  i just realized that so difficult to make one page of manga. Oh i really appreciate and admire all mangaka in the world. They are so great.!!! (~~~-~~~) Sugoi..

 It was need a long time for me to be able to finished one page of manga. If we want to create a manga, we must do first:
1. Write the synopsis of manga
2. The characteristic of each character in manga
3.  Draw the rough sketch of manga ( Name in japanese)
4. Draw the real manga
5. Inking is the final ...

I really had no idea what should i did but at least, i tried to make a short manga. Here the picture that i made, hehehehehe






 It feels so great when we draw the manga and i want to do it again, yayayaya... I still have to  work hard to make a better picture.... Ow,,,, but i love manga, especially nodame cantabile, ^_^.
