Japan's Igloo

Guys, have you ever heard about igloo?? If you type "igloo" words in google or else search engine, you'll find if igloo is a snowhouse that originally built by the Inuit Indian. All the building is made from snow and they use igloo as a temporary house to use on fishing and hunting expedition. But, how if there is another igloo but it has a different function of the usual igloo???

Japan has so many festivals and all of the festivals is unique. One of them is Yokote Kamakura Festival in Akita Prefecture. A kamakura is like an igloo-snow house, about 2 meters square, which shelters an altar dedicated to the God of Water. Passers-by are invited by the children, in Akita dialect, to come inside the kamakura and drink some sweet fermented rice brew or called amazake. Everyone has a good time chatting while eating rice cakes or called mochi and sweets, which is the conventional way of spending time in kamakura

From the book that i've read, in olden times in central and eastern Japan they build a small New Year hut and spend a few days to purify themselves with refraining from the pleasure of eating and drinking. But now, the Yokote Kamakura Festival has turned to be a happy events especially for children. In the altar for the water deity which carved into the rear of the room inside each Kamakura, usually japanese people  pray for abundant harvests, the safety of their family members, protection against fire and for academic success. From the end of January to the end of February, famous festivals of Akita Prefecture are represented here, where you can learn about winter in Akita.
